Loyal Coffee
Trendy, Cool Kids
Minimalistic. Airy. Natural light. Plants. Cute mugs. The WHOLE aesthetically-pleasing millennial vibe. That’s Loyal Coffee to a tee. It’s a great place with a new-age menu—think fancy toast done on thick sourdough, quinoa bowls, and assorted pastries, and, of course, delicious coffee.
I stopped in the downtown Colorado Springs location (there is one in Northgate, too) on a Friday morning and this place was packed with the morning coffee crowd! Luckily, there are plenty of places to find a seat. And my Americano and Toast with Peanut Butter while getting some work done was an experience that will keep me coming back.
Don’t tell the others, but this is my FAVORITE coffee shop in Colorado Springs! 😉
The Perk Downtown
Chill Colorado Locals
The Perk Downtown is your classic, locally-owned, locally-roasted, and locally-served coffee shop with two-story seating. And they’re one of the oldest coffee shops in town! It’s a pretty chill, no-frill environment and I recommend grabbing your drink (loved the chai tea latte) and heading upstairs where you’ll find big windows perfect for watching the hustle and bustle of Tejon Street.
BONUS: The Perk Downtown now serves local craft beer, wine, and cocktails that include their own coffee and teas. Plus, a daily happy hour from 5 PM-7 PM. Start your workday here and end it with a nice relaxing beverage afterward.

Story Coffee Company
Chic Shoppers
Coffee shop…or coffee STOP? This little tiny-house-turned-coffee shop is a charming and perfect place to grab a cup of joe as you’re out and about exploring Colorado Springs. Step into the compact, cozy inside where there lives the brewing station, a few small tables, and march along the wall. Or, walk right up to the window for a grab-and-go and either sit on the outdoor patio space that overlooks Acacia Park or be on your way.
Story Coffee Co. rotates its beans so you will find different producers every few months. And you can always count on the best coffee and tasty drink!

Solar Roast Coffee
Quirky Musicians
This coffee shop, located right downtown, is colorful and lively with mural-painted walls and large stacks of music records to look through. And hence the name, Solar Roast Coffee is a local roaster that produces organic coffee using a solar-powered coffee roaster. Their tactic provides rich flavorful brews that will have you coming back for another cup!
In addition to your cup of coffee, make sure to add one of their many breakfast burritos or the NYC bagel.
The Exchange
Fun Hipsters
The Exchange is a lot of things wrapped into one—coffee shop, bar, local hangout, midweek lunch stop, they do it ALL. If you treat it as your coffee spot, grab a coffee flight (4o oz. of Cafecito, Gooey Zombie, Iced Latte, and Cold Brew) as well as something from their wonderful selection of food items. They have the best sandwiches, burritos, and (my favorite) skillets.
Find a spot to sit in their spacious intertior full of art displays that includes a ground level with a bar and both low and high-top tables, plus upstairs seating overlooking the space. There’s room for everyone!
Switchback Coffee (Hillside)
POPULAR Trendsetters
This is another option where, if you’re into aesthetics, you will love Switchback Coffee. A light, airy, gray-walled atmosphere with green plants throughout and modern, circular light fixtures. Its calm energy sucked me in and will certainly bring me back.
There are plenty of tables to choose from as well as a couch and a bar with light “coffee shop music” playing in the background. And the honey lavender iced latte was just what I needed to get my afternoon remote work done! (Last plug: I ran into the friendliest barista of the bunch!)
BONUS: Their drip coffee is “pay what you can.” (And they offer pour-over at market price.)
1979 Coffee
CHURCH Members
1979 Coffee is located within Woodmen Valley Chapel campus and is the perfect get-together spot. It’s an open floor plan and offers places to gather around a fireplace, large table, or smaller ones if you want to come and get some work done. And the details—they are done right! This unique location is the perfect vibe with their dark flooring, wood accents, modern lights, and greenery throughout. And they brew a good cup of coffee!
NOTE: This spot is right off I-25, so if you’re traveling north towards Denver and need a coffee, stop in!
Corter Coffee Roasters
No-Nonsense DUDES
I am a sucker for the new-age, aesthetically-pleasing coffee shops with avocado toast. BUT, this no-frills, come as you are shop was extremely endearing. I don’t know if it was the friendly barista, the hodge-podge of decor, or their coffee beans that sucked me in—but I found myself smiling throughout my time here.
Corter Coffee Roasters offers some of the best drinks with a long list of specialties. Try a Caramel Sagan, Abacus, or Perpetual Motion for your morning caffeine rush. NOTE: there are no food options here.
Kangaroo Coffee
Those IN A RUSH
Your new favorite drive-through coffee shop! This is the best place when you’re in a rush—so some of you might be here on a regular basis! They offer a variety of drinks including organic coffee, espresso, teas, and smoothies, in addition to artisan baked goods. Their coffee has a strong, rich flavor that will wake ya right up!
NOTE: Kangaroo Coffee does have three other locations throughout Colorado Springs that offer dine-in services.
Jives Coffee Lounge
Community-Lovers
Start your day off right at a cozy coffee shop: Jives Coffee Lounge! This fun, popular spot serves classic and unique coffee drinks, plus specialty sandwiches packed with fresh ingredients. Their cozy atmosphere (including a small patio) is welcoming with random pieces of furniture and local art. And to top it off, there’s often live music to create the perfect ambiance.
Whether it’s a slow Sunday morning or a lively Saturday, the vibe will be just what you need. (Keep in mind, it’s likely going to be busy—stay patient; you won’t be disappointed.)
