Jake & Telly’s Greek Taverna
Authentic Greek Food
Jake & Telly’s is EASILY one of the best restaurants in Old Colorado City! The highest quality, authentic, Greek food. Dark ambiance with Greek paintings and string lights. Second-story outdoor patio with mountain views. A (super) friendly staff who offer great service. (And, a free shot of Ouzo when you sit at the bar!)
I crave this food on the regular. And love the experience every time. It has quickly become my go-to whether I want to sit inside and eat or just order for pick-up.
WHAT TO ORDER
- Appetizers: Spanakópita and/or Dolmádes.
- Entrees: The Gyro Plate or Chicken and Capers. Note: the restaurant is higher-end, about $30/entree, but the portions are large, very shareable, and next-level delicious.
Pizzeria Rustica
Neapolitan Wood-fired Pizza
Pizzeria Rustica is the perfect place for a date or a family gathering, and you won’t be disappointed with the pizzas or the atmosphere. It’s a quaint, charming Italian-style restaurant in a historic building that makes you feel like you’re in Italy.
They make their own dough each day and use a wood-fired oven to cook it—and you can tell! Their Mozzarella cheese and sauce are also homemade and their ingredients are imported from the best artisan producers in Italy and America. Drooling yet?
WHAT TO ORDER
- Appetizers: Burrata and/or Fonduta.
- Pizza: Rustica—my favorite!
- Drinks: Your favorite wine or premium beer or choice.
Slice420
NY-STYLE PIZZA
Looking for more of a classic, New York-style slice of pizza? Look no further than Slice420—said by MANY to be the best place for pizza in Colorado Springs. And I would agree; this pizza is SO GOOD. Grab pizza by the slice (that’s displayed to find your perfect flavor—and you’ll love the size of the slices) or order a full one for the whole group.
Only the freshest and finest ingredients are used for their freshly hand-kneaded and hand-tossed dough, sauces, and toppings. They have pizza specials throughout the week. And they cook for a cause. DO NOT miss this place!
WHAT TO ORDER
- Sofia Pie: Olive oil garlic base, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, sweet caramelized onions, fresh piped ricotta cheese, hot cherry peppers topped with a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey, fresh basil, and the hard cheese blend.
- The Works: Red Sauce, shredded mozzarella, Italian sausage, pepperoni, portobello mushrooms, red peppers & sweet caramelized onions. Garnished with the hard cheese blend & fresh basil.
Mother Muff’s
PUB GRUB SPORTS BAR
Without a doubt, this is my favorite sports bar in Colorado Springs. And the most fun Sunday Funday! Mother Muff’s offers tons of TVs, drink specials, great food (with delicious brunch options), and fans from across the country tuning into their team. Plus, they have a full bar both in the front area and the back. Their waitstaff is phenomenal and you’ll quickly see it’s a local favorite.
WHAT TO ORDER
- Brunch: Breakfast pizzas! Both the green chiles-based and gravy-based options are awesome. I like the South West the best. They also have a great Sweet Potato Hash and a giant cinnamon roll if that’s up your alley.
- Drinks: There are half-price house mimosas and bloody marys on Sundays. Plus, daily specials including their craft beer and cocktail options.
Note: I am a self-proclaimed wings connoisseur. I’d skip them here. Go with pizza. And their french fries are great, too.
TAPAteria
SPANISH TAPAS
Feeling fancy or need a date night spot? The same people who bring us Pizzaria Rustica also offer TAPAteria just a block away. It’s a great place in a cute, cozy atmosphere with bar spots as well as small tables with Italian-style decor surrounding you. The unique dining experience is wonderful. Come for a glass of wine and a snack or a full-blown tapas meal.
WHAT TO ORDER
- Tapas: Garlic Mushrooms. Caprese Skewers. Grilled Garlic Shrimp. Full disclosure: I was not a big fan of the Albondigas (Meatballs.)
- Drinks: Your favorite from the wine list. Or their housemade sangria!
The Alchemy
IRISH PUB
Love an Irish pub? The Alchemy is a good place to come with a cozy, no-frills vibe with both a rustic indoor area and a grubby (yet charming) outdoor space with mountain views. It’s the perfect place for apps & taps on a Friday night. And you can always count on some good, Irish fun.
WHAT TO ORDER
- Appetizers: Rueben Rolls are fabulous! (I have yet to have a full meal at The Alchemy.)
- Drinks: An Irish beer or whiskey, of course!
Supernova Bar & Arcade
ARCADE BAR
Need to get the party started? Stop in Supernova Bar & Arcade for some good, old-fashioned fun. Grab your drinks and get it crackin’ on the old-school games. While you’re at it, order classic bar food options like cheese curds, nachos, wings, and burgers. And there are TVs as well if you need to catch a game. This place is perfect for the whole family.
All the excitement combined with friendly bartenders might just have you here longer than you think!
WHAT TO ORDER
- Appetizers: Frogger Poppers. Joust Curds. Sonic Rings.
- Drinks: Straight Coors Light for me at Supernova.
Jives Coffee Lounge
COFFEE SHOP & CAFE
Start your day off right at Jives Coffee Lounge for a delicious breakfast! This spot serves classic and unique coffee drinks, plus specialty sandwiches PACKED with fresh ingredients. Their cozy atmosphere is welcoming with random pieces of furniture, local art, and small communities of people gathering in the morning. And to top it off, there’s often live music to create the perfect ambiance.
WHAT TO ORDER
- Coffee: Americano. Or a specialty drink!
- Avocado Dream: Avocado, cream cheese, cheddar, sunny side up, spring mix, avocado ranch on an everything bagel. YUM.
DESSERT: Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has some of the best premium chocolate you can find and your eyes will light up as soon as you walk in. You’re immediately greeted by the most impressive caramel apples with a thick coat and a variety of colorful toppings. Make your way through to find fudge, toffee, chocolate-covered pretzels, and cookies, plus so much more. Pick a few of your favorites and enjoy every bite!
WHAT TO ORDER
- Peanut Butter Buckets are a MUST. I don’t leave Old Colorado City without one.
- Variety of Truffles—Sea Salt is to-die-for.
- Chocolate-Covered Pretzels for a little sweet, a little salty.
