The Best Pizza Farms in Minnesota and Wisconsin
Look no further. I’ve put together a list of the best pizza farms in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I haven’t checked all of them off the list quite yet, but we are working on it! And the ones we have visited were always enjoyable and fun. First things first, though…
What is a Pizza Farm!?
Pretty much as it states, a pizza farm is an outdoor restaurant that operates on a farm. Typically, fresh farm ingredients and a woodfire stove are used to create the magic. Many have additional snacks or drinks on-site, while others choose to do BYOB. Some have picnic tables and others ask that you bring a blanket or small table and your own chairs. All of them are unique in their own way, but all of them make a delicious pizza!
Quick Pizza Farm Tips
- Bug Spray: Don’t forget, you’re on the farm! You may run into a bug or two.
- Sunscreen: You’ll be outside for the majority of your experience.
- Patience: Many of these places have limited hours and tend to be busy. Plus, creating and cooking these fabulous pizzas in a limited kitchen takes time. I promise, they are always worth the wait!
- Check on What to Bring + Additional Information below: Like I said, they are all unique with different asks when it comes to payment, seating, drinks, trash, etc. Luckily, I’ve compiled most of this for you! 🙂

The Best Pizza Farms in Minnesota
Red Barn Farm of Northfield
Northfield, Minnesota
This place. I’m AMAZED by not only the pizza but the entire grounds and atmosphere Red Barn Farm put together. Located about an hour from the Twin Cities in Northfield, Minnesota, Red Barn Farm offers an Instagram-worthy experience that is perfect for a weekend or even weeknight road trip.
Organic farm ingredients go into the pizza oven and the results are fantastic! We really enjoyed the Margarita Pizza and can’t wait to go back to try one with red sauce and meats. While you wait for your pizza, enjoy some wine (BYOB) and/or head over to the farm animals. It’s such a relaxing atmosphere.

Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm
Waseca, MINNESOTA (South of Faibault)
While I rave about the atmosphere of Red Barn Farm, Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm makes me rave about FRESHNESS. I don’t recall having a pizza that had such fresh-tasting veggies on top with the perfect crisp and crunch.
I’m so glad we went with the MN Mess Pizza at Pleasant Grove—red sauce, sausage, mushroom, black and green olives (left these off), green peppers, onions, mozzarella. It was loaded with their own ingredients and tomato sauce which made for a pizza that had you grabbing “just one more slice.” I’d say owner Emily Knudsen knows what she’s doing!
Once your order, make sure to explore the trails through the farm. After that, set up your picnic area, enjoy live music, sip your beer (BYOB), and wait for your pizza.
What to Bring
- A small table or picnic blanket to sit on. Obviously chairs as well, if you perfer.
- Your own utinsels, napkins, and a trash bring. You will dispose of your own garbage.

Squash Blossom Pizza Farm
Oronoco, Minnesota (North of Rochester)
This is another one I have yet to visit, but one thing has it at the very top of my list: fresh, handmade sourdough crust happens at Squash Blossom Pizza Farm. YUM! They also make their own marinara sauce with everything from their gardens. And there is always live music! You do need to purchase tickets in advance (info below) but it sure looks like it’s worth planning ahead for.
They also have their own bakery and a chocolate shop! I’ll definitely update this post with a review once we make it down towards Rochester.

The Best Pizza Farms in Wisconsin
Fun pizza farms aren’t just in Minnesota. Our neighboring state of Wisconsin is home to a few as well. And most of these are still only a couple of hours from Minnesota which makes them a great Day Trip.
The Stone Barn
Nelson, Wisconsin
This spot definitely belongs on this list! The Stone Barn is a beautiful place where you can not only grab a fresh pizza but enjoy drinks, lawn games, and family fun. The owners of the Stone Barn, Robbi Bannen and Ted Fisher have really done an incredible job creating a space for people to enjoy pizza outside!
The beautiful setup includes plenty of tables and we were able to snag one on a summer Saturday night to enjoy our Greek Pizza, no olives. Highly recommend that option. Red sauce-less, it’s very light yet full of lamb, artichokes, and feta cheese. And the crust is perfect—so flaky and crispy.
It’s located just east of the Mississippi River in Nelson, Wisconsin. And it makes for a great Day Trip along the Great River Road.
What to Bring
Yourself, your companions, and your wallets! Nothing special or out of the ordinary at this family farm. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating on-site, as well as napkins, utensils, and trash. They also have beverages (including alcohol) that must be purchased on-site—you cannot bring any in with you.
The Stone Barn Information
- SEASON: May-October.
- HOURS: Fridays 5-9 p.m., Saturdays 4-9 p.m., and Sundays 12-8 p.m. Note: Hours are for the kitchen only, so you can stay and enjoy the space and pizza without rushing.
- RESERVATIONS: First come, first serve basis. Do give a heads up if you are a group of 20+.
- PAYMENT: All forms are good, including credit cards. You do need cash for the general store.
- MUSIC: None. But there are a ton of fun yard games available to play in the large space. Feel free to bring your own as well.
- PETS: Yep! Bring them along.
- GLUTEN-FREE + VEGAN: They have gluten-free crusts available at no additional cost for any of the pizzas. Note that it is 14″ vs. the standard 18″. Vegan, I am unsure.
- Looking for a wedding venue? Check out The Stone Barn Wedding Venue. It is a separate area than the restaurant.
Winghaven Pizza Farm
Galesville, Wisconsin (East of Winona)
South of Nelson, Wisconsin (above), yet still, north of LaCrosse, Wisconsin is Winghaven Pizza Farm. This is a great stop if you are continuing down the Great River Road! Their fresh-to-order stone-fired thin crust pizza looks like a delicacy (this one is still on my list as well) and the atmosphere feels just like you’re in the backyard!
They serve local beer and wine, in addition to snacks and side dishes from cheese curds to popcorn. This family-run farm looks so well-established and definitely worth a trip south!
What to Bring
- A small table or blanket to sit on. They do have 12 picnic tables but those tend to fill up quick! Grab one if you can but make sure to have your own arrangements.
- As far as drinks (including alcohol), utinsels and trash, they got you covered!
